30 Stories in 30 Days #2 – “Worst Foot Forward”

Worst Foot Forward

Galactic Life Survey Group 03112

Preliminary report on species 01142.13021.22344

A Class 4 Survey Probe was sent to star system 32213.44110.21111 to observe the native emergent intelligence.  The probe successfully integrated with their planetary communication network and has returned approximately 32100.00000.00000.00000 information units.

Almost all of the data returned remains incomprehensible, due in large part to our limited understanding of their culture.  We do, however, understand most of the scientific data contained on their network.  While not all is correct, it is impressive how much they have been able to gather with their primitive technology.  What is disturbing is the amount of inaccurate scientific data we have uncovered.  Inaccurate not just to us, but contradictory to their own level of knowledge.  To the best of our understanding, these are deliberate attempts at scientific fallacy.

It is the group’s majority opinion that these scientific inaccuracies are a further example of our not understanding of their culture.  It is our recommendation that a Class 10 Survey Probe be sent to gather more information.

Hmmm…..could that planet possibly be a small planet in an unfashionable arm of the Milky Way Galaxy…: 🙂
